First Generation

Grandpa Thomason

Grandpa Thomason grew up a miner and unfortunately suffered a serious injury that would not allow him to continue down that path. He ended up becoming an operator in the union. He was one of the first civilians dispatched to the Nevada Test Site.

Grandpa Bayard

Grandpa Bayard was from a farming family in Superior Wisconsin. He followed his wives family to Nessa Oregon but did not enjoy the farming life. He came to Vegas as a welder building bridges for the rail roads.

Second Generation

Dogie Thomason

In the rich tapestry of my family's history, my grandfather Dogie Thomason (pictured here on the right) stands tall as a figure of inspiration and resilience. Once a monarch within the walls of our home, he embarked on a remarkable journey that saw him transition from the comfortable confines of his role to dive headfirst into the world of construction trades. With unwavering determination and an unyielding spirit, he built a career that would shape not only his own life but also the lives of those who came after him. My grandfather's transformation taught us the profound significance of working hard, remaining loyal, and finding balance in the delicate dance between work and family life. Through his actions, he showed us that success is not handed down on a silver platter but is earned through perseverance and dedication. His days were filled with sweat and toil, yet he never faltered in his commitment to provide for his loved ones. As an employee, my grandfather exemplified qualities that were both admirable and rare. He possessed an unyielding work ethic, unmatched attention to detail, and an unwavering sense of integrity. His dedication to every project he undertook left an indelible mark on the countless structures he helped erect. But it wasn't just his professional prowess that made him stand out. It was his unwavering loyalty to his colleagues and his commitment to maintaining a harmonious work-life balance that truly set him apart. Through his actions, my grandfather instilled these principles deep within our family's core, shaping our lives and careers in immeasurable ways. He taught us that hard work is not only a means to an end but a source of fulfillment and personal growth. He showed us the value of loyalty and how it fosters strong relationships, both professionally and personally. And perhaps most importantly, he demonstrated the delicate art of balancing the demands of work with the precious moments spent with loved ones. As I reflect upon the life and legacy of my grandfather, I am reminded of the unique personality and character that he possessed. He was a man of quiet strength, whose infectious laughter could light up a room and whose wise words echoed in our hearts long after they were spoken. His unwavering dedication, his unyielding loyalty, and his ability to find harmony between work and family life have shaped not only my own path but also the lives of those around me. Indeed, my grandfather's journey from the monarch of our family to a humble tradesman serves as a testament to the power of hard work, loyalty, and balance. His lessons live on through each generation, reminding us of the values that truly matter. And as we continue to build upon his legacy, may we carry his virtues with us in every endeavor, honoring the man who taught us the true meaning of success.
